Use this color remover

For a solid background, logo, icon, signature, green screen, or simple flat graphic where you can pick the unwanted color.

Use an AI background remover

For complex photos, hair, fur, busy scenes, or a background that shares important colors with the subject.

Pick a known color.
Keep control.

Use this page when you want to recolor one flat or mostly consistent part of an image without rebuilding the asset in a full editor.

What this tool changes

Image Color Remover compares every pixel with the color you select. Pixels inside the selected range become transparent in the downloaded PNG. Start with a narrow tolerance, then widen it only when nearby shades need to be included.

Because the processing happens in your browser, the source image is not uploaded, stored, or edited in place. The download is a new PNG and the original remains untouched.

How to get a clean result

Click a clean representative area of the unwanted color. Keep tolerance low for logos, icons, diagrams, and exact digital fills. For anti-aliased edges or uneven lighting, increase tolerance gradually while watching the checkerboard.

Use a small amount of edge softness only when a hard outline remains. If an important area begins to disappear, lower the tolerance or sample a different pixel.

When this is the right method

Swap a flat accent in a social graphic, badge, or banner for an updated brand color.

This method is deterministic: it follows the color range you choose instead of guessing which object is the subject. That makes it useful for artwork and flat backgrounds where you need predictable pixel-level control.

Important limitation

This is a pixel-color replacement tool, not an object-aware photo editor. Gradients, shadows, reflections, and a color shared by several objects need careful tolerance settings or a mask.

Export as PNG to preserve transparency. JPEG cannot store transparent pixels.

Quick workflow

Open the image → click the unwanted color → adjust tolerance → inspect the transparent preview → download PNG. To make the selected color disappear instead, use the remove color from image tool.

Focused jobs.
One chosen color.

These examples work when the unwanted area is mostly one flat or consistently shaded color.

01 / BRAND

Update a brand-color accent

Swap a flat accent in a social graphic, badge, or banner for an updated brand color.

02 / PRODUCT

Try a product color variation

Create a quick visual color variation when the item is mostly a single flat fill.

03 / ICON

Recolor an icon or sticker

Replace one known icon fill while preserving the rest of the illustration.

04 / SLIDE

Adapt a presentation asset

Change a colored element so an existing graphic fits a new deck or document.

Make one color
transparent.

Small adjustments are safer than a broad threshold, especially near important edges.

1

Open the source image

Choose PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WebP. Keep the original file as your backup.

2

Sample the unwanted color

Click a clear pixel, or enter a six-digit HEX value when you know the exact color.

3

Tune the matching range

Raise tolerance only enough to catch related shades; add slight softness for anti-aliased edges.

4

Download transparent PNG

Check the result against the checkerboard, then save a new PNG with transparency preserved.

Common questions

Change Color of Image Online FAQ

Can I replace one color with another color?

Yes. Choose “Replace color” in the tool, sample the original color, choose a replacement color, and tune tolerance before downloading.

Does changing a color upload my image?

No. The image is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.

Why did more than one area change?

Those pixels fall inside the same selected color range. Lower tolerance or sample a more representative pixel.

Still seeing white edges?

For an already transparent PNG with pale fringes, try the white halo cleaner. Compare edge colors against dark and light backgrounds before downloading.
